I’m building a brand spanking new business from scratcheroo, and for one month,  I’m slipping you the key to the coop and letting you in on what normally happens behind closed doors.

Backstage Bird is a fly-on-the-wall diary shared through a private Google Doc that I’ll update as I go.

I'm starting this from scratch. But I'm not starting as a beginner.

Same blank page. Considerably less innocent.

Fifteen years ago, I started an online business with no cashola, no 'team', a hefty dose of stubborness, a baby, and no real clue what I was doing.

Since then, I’ve worked with / forced over 3,000 + people to be my friend, and have made $1,633,269.90 online (that's a copy & pasted number from the "lifetime figure" given to me. It's actually slightly more but it ended up being a lot of numbers and I ran out of fingers.)

Needless to say, that all feels crazy to me.




Hi, I’m Jane!

Big Chicken is my protest against all the brilliant things that never get made. I want to see what happens when more people stop treating their best ideas like frivolous little side quests and start giving them the time, nerve + resources usually reserved for things far less interesting.

More books on bedside tables. More peculiar little businesses paying the mortgage. More strange, useful, beautiful things roaming around in the wild.

An indecent amount more, actually.
