When you subscribe to Chicken Scratch or another Big Chicken email list, purchase or access a Big Chicken product, join a programme, or otherwise interact with Big Chicken, we may collect information you choose to give us, including:

• information you provide when replying to an email, completing a form or otherwise contacting us
• information relating to products or programmes you purchase or access
• information you provide while participating in a course, programme or other Big Chicken service

• send you Chicken Scratch and other emails you’ve specifically signed up to receive 
• deliver and administer resources, products, programmes or services you request or purchase
• understand what Big Chicken readers and customers are interested in

You don’t have to give us your personal information. However, if you don’t provide information necessary for something you’ve requested — your email address when subscribing to Chicken Scratch, for example — we won’t be able to provide it.

EMAIL, KIT AND AUDIENCE INSIGHTS

Big Chicken uses Kit to manage email subscriptions, send emails and help us understand our email audience.

If you subscribe to Chicken Scratch or another Big Chicken email list, the information you provide through the signup form is processed using Kit.

Kit may also help us supplement subscriber information using information from third-party data providers and publicly available sources. We use these audience insights to better understand the people who read Big Chicken and improve what we make.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email.

PRODUCTS, PROGRAMMES AND MEMBERVAULT

Big Chicken uses MemberVault to host and deliver some of our digital products, courses and programmes.

If you purchase, register for or access something hosted in MemberVault, information such as your name, email address, product access and activity within the platform may be processed through MemberVault so we can provide and administer the product or programme.

CHICKEN SCRATCH REFERRALS AND SPARKLOOP

Chicken Scratch uses SparkLoop to operate its referral programme.

SparkLoop helps us create individual referral links and track successful referrals so we can tell when someone has earned a referral reward.

WEBSITE ANALYTICS

The Big Chicken website uses Google Analytics to help us understand how people find and use the site.

Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies and collect information about your interaction with the website. This can include pages visited, general browser and device information, approximate location and information about how you arrived at the site.

We use this information to understand website traffic and improve Big Chicken.

We do not intentionally send Google Analytics personally identifying information such as your name or email address.

• SparkLoop — Chicken Scratch referral programme

These services may process information on our behalf as necessary to provide their services.

We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

PAYMENTS

Payments for Big Chicken products and services may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified at checkout. Payment providers process the information necessary to complete your transaction. Big Chicken does not directly store your full credit or debit card details.

INFORMATION STORED OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND

Some of the service providers we use operate or store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States.

This means personal information may sometimes be processed or stored outside New Zealand.

When we use third-party providers to process personal information, we take reasonable steps to use reputable services and handle information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.

HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION

We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate Big Chicken, or to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

If you unsubscribe from our emails, some information may still be retained where necessary to record your unsubscribe preference or meet legal requirements.
